Back to Bougie

Bougie woman
Don’t mind me. I’m just being bougie.

Some time ago, I shared my Mysteek Naturals experience as I dabbled with the Bougie Blue temporary hair color. In case you were wondering, I’m now just plain old bougie – back to my normal self. Ha!

Is it really temporary?

Yes! There was some apprehension on the Facebook page about the hair color. I colored my hair on Thursday night and let it bake in my scarf for days. On Sunday morning, I moved forward with my typical wash day and it washed right out. Don’t get me wrong, it took a few shampoos (four to be exact), but it came out. I did have a bit of a blue tint on one side, but I was okay with it because it reminded me of that blue/black everyone used to love back in the day.

You can actually feel the waxy texture of the product as you shampoo making it easy to tell when you’ve gotten it all out. For those of you concerned about your jobs and things – it really does come out. Try it on a Friday, wash it out on Saturday – you should be good to go by Monday. Keep in mind that I am loose natural. Locs may be a different story.

Is it safe for children?

Yes! I have three children. Mr. 17 was not having it, but the littles (6 and 2) were all in. On Friday morning (after a side-eye from Hub-rock) we all had blue hair. They thought they were so cool! While it is safe for your children, it may not be safe for your nerves. My children are buck wild, yall! I’m talking flipping, quasi headstands, dancing, tumbling – you name it. Bougie Blue was on the carpets, couches…everywhere! I am not bothered by this type of thing. I blotted out what I could and trusted that whatever I did not get would fade away.

If you were to look at things now, you would never know. Hub-rock never noticed either. So, there you go.

Would you do it again?

Absolutely! This was so much fun. As a more traditional hair color type of girl, this really gave me life. As my hair grows out, I’ll think of some cool ways to add pops of color and will be sure to share them with you here.

Let me know if you’re planning on trying Mysteek Naturals. I’ll do it with you.

Peace and Love.
